I Kissed a Frog and My Prince Forgave Me - Book Review

Naomi Jo Rush new book of poetry, I Kissed a Frog and My Prince Forgave Me, is a well-crafted poetic journey through infidelity.

Naomi reveals the most vulnerable time in her married life. Her poetry teaches us that married couples tend to forget about each other’s needs and become absorbed in habitual day-to-day behavior. While she strained for the attention that her husband would not or could not provide Naomi put on a performance of a happily content wife, when she was really screaming with frustration inside.

Her confusion ripens with the prospect of temptation. The thrill of spontaneity coupled with feeling of being desired draws Naomi to her lover like a drowning person would desperately clutch at a lifeline.

Craving for her husband to notice the change and discovering she never wanted the marriage to end prompts Naomi to confess her wrong doings. When it is all revealed, Naomi endures the torturous guilt while watching her husband writhe in the pain she inflicted upon him.

In the end, I think Naomi provides hope for us all in showing us the reasons and effects of infidelity by walking us through the steps of recovering a marriage. I felt encouraged that marriages have a chance of thwarting this common mistake if we show one another love and open the channels of communication .We can thrive in a world of strife and temptation.

The True Purpose of a Tips Booklet

“My topic doesn’t fit into a how-to tips format.”

That comment shows up periodically, and did again this week.
Even when a person has written a novel, there are ways to create a tips booklet that can help market that novel plus become its own new source of revenue. THOSE are the purposes of a booklet.

A booklet is a way for the reader to test out the information of the author, to see if it’s something that leads to wanting more of what the author’s got. It’s a way to gently approach a topic that may be otherwise overwhelming or brand new. It’s one format of the material, which can then be embellished, expanded, or otherwise modified by the author.

A booklet is NOT the consummate reference on a given topic. A tips booklet, in particular, is NOT a narrative philosophical statement or observation of something. It’s a tips booklet, with how-to’s in it.

Let’s say you wrote a novel, set on a rural farm in midwest America, and you want to sell lots of copies of that novel, which common wisdom says is a challenge to do. One way to do it could be by writing a tips booklet about ways (tips!) to live a happy, fulfilling, and interesting life in rural America, or on a farm. That would certainly give the reader of your book more of a connection to what your book is about, wouldn’t it, especially when you include some specific invitation that looks something like “for more about living on a farm in midwest America, you’ll enjoy reading our book, “Life in a Corn Field.”

Or you are interested in featuring the accomplishments of some noteable people of current or historical times. Instead of a treatise about them, it could be very useful to create a tips booklet that includes guidance based on what those people did to accomplish what they accomplished, for others to mirror in their own lives.

Once in a rare while there is a topic that simply does not lend itself to a tips booklet. It’s usually something in science or math and focused on theory. It’s at that moment you’ll see a glaze come onto my face. Otherwise, let’s talk about what your tips booklet is and can be.

Email Delivery & The War Against Spam

As reported from the New Scientist, a team of researchers from IBM, and Cornell University developed a new algorithm for detecting spam in emails, called SMTP Path Analysis. The algorithm works by examining the path information (probably by looking at the Received headers), and detects patterns that are likely to be the route of a spammer. “…the algorithm is not meticulous enough to efficiently catch spam on its own, but works well in combination with content filtering tools.

Engineers at ActivSoftware recently announced their new algorithm
called ’slow start outbound connection ramping.’ This new server
technology attempts to avoid becoming flagged as spam by automatically monitoring delivery success and failure rates and adjusting simultaneous connections to an email service provider based upon those parameters. It begins with a very low number of simultaneous connections to any one ESP for any one IP address. It monitors delivery failure to success ratios and slowly ramps up the number of connections to that ESP from that particular IP.

In another recent attempt to help legitimate email senders avoid
becoming flagged as spammers, researchers at ActivSoftware, using a bayesian spam filter, sifted through over two hundred thousand words flowing through their email servers and itemized the top 50, or so, words most likely to trigger spam filters. The words are organized by their spam to ham ratio, or illegitimate to legitimate email ratio.

The team analyzed many factors within this data, but the most
compelling was the spam to ham ratios. Words such as click and here don’t rank as high, since they are used often in legitimate email. Whereas words like madam, rarely found in legitimate email, while readily found in spam email, had very high ratios. Using this method the team created, what they deemed, “A
superior list of spam words.”

The top twelve words follow:

  • homeowner
  • discreet
  • madam
  • materially
  • unclaimed
  • anticipates
  • soma
  • preapproved
  • unconditionally
  • beneficiary
  • refinance
  • intercourse

Do You Prefer the Spanish National Lottery or the Euro Lottery

On December 2008 e-lottery brought the Spanish National lotto to it’s product range, giving participants globally a vastly improved opportunity of sharing in this whopping Spanish lottery prize fund.

If its the first time you have come across the Spanish Lotto, allow me to highlight just how all-important this lottery is to the vast majority of the Spanish population. The Spanish lotto has been a public obsession in Spain for a long time with massive interest generated by the Christmas lottery draw each year. Believe it or not 98% of the population play this Spanish National lotto each Christmas.

There are a couple of primary reasons why lot’s of Spanish nationals join in the Christmas Elgordo lottery draw.

First Off, there is the incentive of the largest lotto prize fund of any world-wide lottery game - with over 2 Billion Euros! Secondly, there are more than 13,000 cash prizes to be won. Lastly, the probability of picking up a money prize on the Christmas lottery draw is a extremely feasible - one in six.

With the measure of interest that’s devoted to the Christmas Elgordo lottery draw, lots of people are oblivious that there is 5 additional Spanish Lotto draws yearly too. These lottery games occur on January, March, May, July and November. Even though these five lottery games don’t boast the large prize fund of the Christmas lottery draw, they are large nonetheless, ranging from 78 million Euros to 655 million Euros. Plus, these lotto games offer virtually 3 times as many prizes as the Christmas lotto draw and betting odds of picking up a money prize of an impressive 1 in 3.

The Christmas Spanish lottery works in an unusual way to virtually all other world-wide lotteries. A whole lotto ticket ‘billete’ is really dear, costing two hundred Euros. However, these lottery tickets are divided up into ten ‘decimos’ (tenths) costing 20 Euros each.

When buying your lotto tickets you have the option of buying 1 decimo, a complete lottery ticket, or a share of a ticket. If you do not buy the whole ticket, somebody else will purchase the rest of your lottery ticket. For Instance, when you buy 2 decimos, somebody else buys three decimos and someone else buys 5 and your lottery ticket wins one thousand Euros, then you will collect 200 Euros, three hundred Euros and 500 Euros respectively. Owing to the expense of purchasing an entire lottery ticket, it is not unusual for households and acquaintances to mix their lotto cash and all purchase a separate ‘decimo’ 10th.

CEMEX

Cementos Mexicanos, or known to the world as CEMEX California, is the result of the merger of two companies in 1931 - Cementos Hidalgo, which was founded in 1906; and Cementos Portland Monterrey, which started in 1920. After the merger, CEMEX California grew exponentially, particularly through the 1960s when it acquired several of Mexico’s cement plants. By the time the company went public in 1976, CEMEX also became Mexico’s largest cement corporation. CEMEX opened its doors to the international market and soon acquired international cement companies, including Venezuela’s VENCEMOS and several cement ventures in Spain, United States, Dominican Republic, Colombia, Costa Rica, and Panama. Soon after, CEMEX began its push towards the Asian and African market, buying out cement corporations in the Philippines, Indonesia, and Egypt. By 1996, CEMEX was the third largest cement company in the world. CEMEX’s business focus is not only limited to cement production but also includes construction supplies and aggregates. Lorenzo Zambrano has been serving as the chairman and chief executive officer of CEMEX since 1985 and has been the engineer of the company’s recent major acquisitions, including the $5.8 billion buyout of the London-based RMC Group in 2005 and US$12.8 billion proposal to purchase all of the outstanding shares of Rinker Group, Limited in 2007. From 2003 to present, CEMEX’s international facilities have been producing a total of 82 million tons of cement annually. The corporation’s current roster now numbers 25,000 employees. Branded as the world’s largest supplier of building materials, CEMEX currently maintains operations on four continents, parading with 66 cement plants, 2,000 ready-mix-concrete facilities, 400 quarry sites, 260 distribution centers and 80 marine terminals. CEMEX constantly seeks to improve the company; it is always looking for ways to develop better products, effective management systems, efficient quality control, and improvements in energy management strategy and information technology initiatives.

Who Can Help You with Algebra

What is Algebra?

Maths has been one of the less popular subjects in American schools. Although children in other nations graduate with excellence in mathematics, most of the average high school age pupils in the United States scratch their heads when confronted with questions about converting fractions to decimals, converting measures and units, solving linear inequalities, or solving radical equations . It makes sense that this predicament is as broad as it is. Algebra comprises of various complicated mathematical equations that it is easy for a pupil to get lost when expected to explain synthetic division or adding polynomials. For that matter, letters are heavily employed for replacing the numbers when it comes to algebra. While this isn’t highly complicated in and of itself, it lends itself poorly to the ‘jump in and play’ aspect of some math. Put simply, the ability to perform a certain algebraic task is based on the individual already having learned a task that led to it. This is to say that Algebra is a process that requires mastery of every step in order to advance. A pupil can’t hope for finding square root radicals and roots when he or she has not mastered proportions and ratios, or converting measures and units.

Technological Breakthroughs:

While this is not a recent occurrence , it appears that mathematics grades have slipped even further in recent years. This possibly caused by many reasons, but no solution will come out as a result of blame game. There have been just a fistful of outside aid available for students to enhance maths skills when out of the classroom. What little software program or program there was, more geared towards helping younger pupils grasp the concepts of arithmetic. Fortunately, the market for such a product has coincided with the technology necessary, letting an inflow of ‘algebra software program‘ or ‘algebra solver‘ programs that permit the mastery of algebra to anybody with a computer and a mouse.

Algebra Software Systems:

There are various algebra calculators available and they vary depending on for what they have been produced for. Some may provide some abilities as graphing a circle, or solving simultaneous equations , but may not have the programming essential for solving exponential equations or adding exponents. The users are suggested to assess the algebra software program upon purchase, but many algebra solver computer software systems will advertise their features. The best bet for anybody who is interested in computer aid for subtracting rational expressions or converting decimals to fractions; basically, whatever particular need you would have, is to search on the Web for the product which the user is interested in purchasing.

Creating Additional Value From E-Book Sales

The act of selling an eBook can be a profitable experience. When one considers the relatively inexpensive nature of eBooks with resell rights and the ways by which cheap eBay auctions can be constructed, the selling of eBooks at auction can be a wonderful means of creating revenue.

However, it is a mistake to look at a completed eBook transaction as the end of the potential profits. EBooks can be sold in a manner that produces a lingering value for the seller simply via the inclusion of affiliate links either within the eBook or as part of the delivery of the eBook.

Affiliate marketing is one of the best ways to generate an online income. It works quite simply. If someone purchases a product after using your uniquely coded link to get to the sales page, you receive a commission on the sale. Many companies and product manufacturers offer affiliate programs and all eBook sellers should take a close look at their potential.

For instance, if you are selling an eBook about widgets, you may want to consider joining an affiliate program offered by someone in the business of selling widgets. Along with the eBook you have sold, you can include a mailing that includes some additional widget information. This might just be an email to the buyer included with the eBook. It could even be offered in the form of a free “special report” offered along with the eBook.

Regardless of the format, this additional communication would include a link back to your affiliate partner. If your customer decides to make a purchase via the links you provide, you will then receive additional revenue in the form of a sales commission.

Affiliate commissions can be quite high and even if your efforts produce very few conversions, it can still be a profitable exercise and a great way to increase the potential value of the eBook transaction to the seller.

If you are selling an eBook you have self-authored, or one that came with private label rights allowing for full editing and customization, you can include affiliate links within the eBook itself. This is a powerful technique for driving qualified traffic to affiliate sites that can really help improve your bottom line.

One does, of course, risk transforming the sale of an informational product into mere advertisement by overusing affiliate links. This should be avoided, as it generally decreases the likelihood of affiliate sales and also creates a lower perceived value for the eBook itself.

However, judicious use of affiliate links is a great way by which an eBook seller can add an additional profit dimension to the products he or she is selling on eBay. Selling eBooks can, in and of itself, generate some eye-opening profits, but by using affiliate measures one can really supercharge their potential earnings after the eBook sale is already made!

This Simple Publishing Mistake Could Be Losing You Half Your Back End Sales!

Many of the Internets biggest ebook sellers are making this simple mistake, and it’s almost certainly costing them a ton of money in lost back end sales. You must not make the same mistake!

I was having a bit of a tidy up on my PC the other day. It really is amazing how many files you accumulate, even in a short space of time.

Anyway, to cut a long story short I was particularly interested in getting all my ebooks in some sort of organized filing system. I wanted to put them into files relating to particular categories. Then, when I wanted to go over a certain topic again, I would easily be able to find an ebook that covered the subject I was looking for.

Then I ran into a problem. The thing is, when I looked at this folder full of ebooks, at first glance, I didn’t have a clue what a load of them were about. I mean, I had read every single one of these ebooks, but from just looking at the file names, I didn’t have a clue what they were, or who wrote them!

The reason was; the ebook publishers had deliberately chosen not to give their ebooks a descriptive filename. Instead of using the actual title of the ebook as the file name, the author used some kind of shortened abbreviation.

Ebook authors must spend ages dreaming up a great name for their ebook that will reflect the topic of their publication. Then they go and ruin all that hard work; by giving the ebook file a 3 letter abbreviated name that doesn’t tell anyone what’s inside.

Why do ebook publishers do this?

There have been a lot of people giving out advice on Internet security over the last few years. One bit of advice that has been going round, is that you should always give your ebooks a weird, un-guessable file name so that Internet thieves, can’t find them on your website. I don’t want to go into exactly how these Internet thieves work because that is not what this article is all about.

Even if you don’t have a website, you may still get influenced by this advice, which is why I want to enlighten you.

Here’s an example of what I mean. Lets say an author has written an ebook called ‘Gold Swing Secrets’. Instead of giving the ebook a descriptive file name like ‘golf_swing_secrets.pdf’, they may name it something like gss-01.pdf or glfsgss.pdf.

Now, the author of the ebook had spent however long writing and compiling his ebook. The file name to him is instantly familiar; after all, he was the one that named the damn thing.

However, little old me ‘the customer’, who may be very keen to read his ebook again, didn’t have a clue what the ebook was about, without opening it to find out. Now you might think that’s ok. I mean, how long does it take to open an ebook to see what it is. My point is, most people’s eyes will be drawn to the ebooks with a descriptive file name that tells the reader instantly what the ebook is about.

What’s the big deal?

I found a number of ebooks on my PC that I had forgotten I had even bought. Some of them I had quickly speed read, with the full intention on reading them properly when I had time. 6 months, a year went by and I kept overlooking them. I just forgot what they were, and just assumed they were some free ebook or something.

The end result being:

  • I never read these ebooks a 2nd time.

  • I never signed up to any of the newsletters that were being promoted by the ebook authors.

  • I never bought any of the products being recommended inside the ebooks.

  • None of these ebook authors made a single back end sale from me.

I wonder how many ebook buyers have done the same as me? My very conservative guess is that at least 50% of people overlook the ebooks on their PC with filenames they don’t recognize. If I am right, you could be losing half your back end sales, if you choose not to give your ebook a descriptive filename.

If you have a website and you’re worried about Internet thieves, store your ebooks in a separate folder and give THAT a weird abbreviated name that no one would guess, not your ebooks!

If you have worked hard to write an ebook, do yourself a favor and finish the job off with a nice descriptive filename. Trust me, your readers, AND your bottom line will really appreciate it.
