Methods and Consequences of Identity Theft

Identity theft is a fast growing problem within the US and many other countries. There are many victims desperately trying to put their lives back together after an unknown person has taken everything from them. Identity theft is when someone uses your name, address, social security number (SSN), bank or credit card account numbers or other identifying information without your knowledge. With this information they then are able to open accounts, commit fraud and other crimes all in your name!

It would appear that Identity Thieves are using this as a career and are very experienced in what they do. They can use a number of low and high tech methods to gain access to your personal identifying information.

A person wishing to steal someone’s identity can get information from businesses or institutions by stealing records from their employer, bribing an employee who has access to the records, conning information out of employees or hacking into the organizations computers.

A less glamorous way to steal an identity is to rummage through your trash, the trash of businesses, or dumps in a practice known as dumpster diving.

Identity thieves obtain credit reports by abusing their employer’s authorized access to credit reports or by posing as a landlord, employer or someone else who may have legitimate need to the information.

As your credit or debit card is processed identity thieves steal the account numbers in a practice known as skimming.

They steal wallets and purses that contain credit and debit cards as well as identification.

Mail is stolen which includes bank and credit card statements, pre-approved credit offers, new checks or tax information.

All they have to do is complete a change of address form to divert your mail to another location.

And the more confident identity thief may scam the information from you by posing as a legitimate person or government official.

Unfortunately there are many consequences to becoming a victim of identity theft. Once the thief has your personal information he can go on spending sprees. Buying ‘big ticket’ items such as computers (these can be sold easily) using your credit and debit account numbers.

It is easy for an identity thief to open a new credit card account using your name, date of birth and social security number. Needless to say the thieves do not pay the bill and the delinquent account is reported on your credit report.

The imposter changes the mailing address on your credit card account so that it will take some time before you will realize there is a problem. By this time he has probably taken out auto loans in your name as well.

With your information it is easy for the imposter to establish phone or wireless service in your name.

He will more than likely open a bank account in you r name and write bad checks on that account. Another useful trick for them is to file for bankruptcy under your name to avoid paying debts or to avoid eviction.

If arrested at any time they can give the police your name and when they do not show up for the court appearance a warrant for arrest will be issued in your name.

So as you can see it is very easy to become a victim and the consequences can be enormous and take a long while to sort out. It is essential to do everything within ones power to protect their identity from these thieves.

Identity Theft Over Hyped?

It appears that Identity Theft has been way over hyped. Yet why? Well let’s follow the money? The Federal Trade Commission has a budget right? They have to employ a handful of really good economists and quite a few wannabe economists who think that every business merger is some sort of economic conspiracy an attitude, which has permeated the FTC’s existence for generations. Then the FTC has to higher thousands of Lawyers and has to pay them with taxpayer’s money to protect large companies since many of these companies are lazy, weak and inefficient while delivering inferior products and providing mediocre to lousy service.

The Federal Trade Commission is a complete sham, but will not admit it although those in the know say it is for the good of the economy due to these large employers financial stability. Besides Adam Smith predicted this might happen and so it is somehow okay? Go figure these wannabe academics accepting such hokum and carrying on as if it is okay to misrepresent Justice at the little DOJ agency; FTC.

The new disruptive innovative and entrepreneurial companies move too fast for the larger corporations and they need help from the government to protect them because executives who quite frankly are only capable of borderline piss-poor performance run these companies. Now then this is one reason that the FTC fraudulently over hypes the problems of Identity Theft. The other reason is they choose companies who sell services to larger companies to prevent identity theft who make money selling software and consulting.

The FTC needs budget monies from Congress and most prove their worth so they over hype the reality of the problems. Read any GAO report on the FTC for more knowledge of how all this budget stuff works.

So how bad is Identity Theft? Not as bad as you think, but all this hype over it is hurting online companies who sell stuff on the Internet as consumers have been mislead and fear using their credit cards online. And that is bad for e-commerce companies and really good for large box store retailers this Christmas Season. But do you think it is right for the FTC to scare the public, misrepresent truth and make people fear a reality that does not exist or do you think the agency should be closed and disgorged of their ill-gotten gains? Think on it, as it sickens me to think this is Truth, Justice and the American Way at work.

Write, Finish, and Publish your eBook Fast to Pull Online Sales

Why write an eBook?

You want ongoing, lifelong multiple streams of income. You want to raise your credibility and trust ratings with clients or customers. You want to get your message out so the world can be a better place.

Yet, You want to spend only a little time on it. (Would you be willing to spend 4 hours a week?) You want to get it out fast (Would 4-6 weeks be OK?) You want to market Online at a low-cost investment. And, for some of you, you are ready to be innovative and even take a small risk to get your eBook read by millions, rather than hundreds!

Where are you now?

You have the idea for your eBook; you have a lot of ideas! Take a moment and decide which one you are most passionate about now and will be for the next year. Focus on one great idea, then add others you know will work too. You want to know what is the next step.

You have your eBook well on its way, but aren’t finished. You need advice on how to get it done, what’s needed to publish (not much!), and how to distribute it to pull Online sales.

Who Should Write an eBook? - If you are ready to invest a little to reap a great deal. - If you are a business person who want to serve a wider community. - If you are willing to move much faster than traditional publishing - If you want to create active, ongoing sources of income.

One method to help make your eBook successful is to use the essential “Seven Hot-Selling Points.”

Seven Things to do Before Writing Your eBook

Every part of your book can be a sales tool. When you include the below tips, you’ll sell more books than you ever dreamed of.

1. Write for your one preferred audience. Not everyone wants your book. Find out what audience wants/needs your book? What problems does your book solve for them? Create an audience profile and keep your audience’s picture in front of you as you write. Ask yourself, is my topic narrow enough? The Chicken Soup For The Teenager, For The Prisoner, and other specific groups sold far more copies than the original Chicken Soup.

2. Write a sizzling book title including benefits. You have 8 seconds to hook your potential buyer. While an eBook cover doesn’t need fancy graphics you will want to create one that can be printed both in color and black and white. It must be easy to see and read. Your title and cover should compel your audience to buy.

3. Write a thirty-second “tell and sell.” You only have a few seconds to impress your potential buyer. Include your title, a few benefits, and the audience. Use sound bites to grab attention. _Write, Finish, and Publish your eBook Fast to Pull Online Sales_ shows professionals how to shortcut each step of writing, publishing, and promoting a salable short eBook.

Include a sound bite that grabs attention such as “It will do more for you than instant cappuccino.” You may also want to compare your book to a successful one such as “The Fast Lane of Dan Poynter’s Books.”

4. Write your sales letter before you write your book. This important sales tool gives the benefits your potential buyers want. Include compelling ad copy, benefits, testimonials, and a small blurb about you, the author. If your potential buyer likes it, they will buy on the spot.

5. Write your eBook’s introduction. Include the problem your audience has, why you wrote the book, and its purpose. In a few paragraphs include more specific benefits, and how you will present it (format). Keep it under a page. Your introduction will help you write your sales letter.

6. Create a table of contents. Each chapter should have a name, preferably a catchy one. If your reader can’t understand the chapter title, then annotate it. Add some benefits or a sub title. In my first chapter called “Why Write an eBook?” I added this partial list of benefits: Ongoing lifelong multiple streams of income, credibility as the expert, products sell easily online, buyers are more targeted and hence you create more profit.

7. Reach out to opinion molders. After an initial contact of asking for feedback, resend them the same chapter and the table of contents of your book. Ask for a testimonial then. These influential contacts’ testimonials will help promote your eBook Online.

Designing every part of your eBook to be a sales tool and a beacon that brings out your best: writing a compelling, understandable, and enjoyable book that millions of Online buyers will want.

Bruce Lee Martial Arts Lesson From Beyond The Grave

One of the most popular questions I’m asked is, “how did Bruce Lee REALLY die?”

And the short (if not disappointing) answer to this is: As far as I know, Bruce died of an allergic reaction.

I know that’s not as sexy as being assassinated by ninjas or whacked by the Chinese mafia…but that’s what the evidence points to.

And you want to know something strange?

In a weird way…this was sort of Bruce Lee’s last and most powerful fighting lesson to all of us.

I mean, think about it.

The way Bruce Lee — perhaps the greatest fighter who ever lived — died proves even people who are seemingly “invincible”…have weaknesses — an “achilles heal” that can be exploited and used against them.

In fact, some of the best martial arts movies use this theme all the time.

Take the movie “Ninja Scroll” for example. A great anime movie. The hero of the story, a swordsman named Jubei, is attacked by a demon who has solid rock for skin.

He can’t be cut or hurt. Except…in his eyes.

His eyes were still vulnerable and so Jubei threw a knife in his eye. The so-called “invincible” demon had a weakness.

My point?

Everyone — no matter how “invincible” they are — has weaknesses.

Quite frankly, the human body is rife with “tender” spots that can be exploited by everyone from small children to 80-year-old ladies riddled with arthritis.

Which is why even the strongest guy in the world — with multiple black belts and years of experience — can be severely beaten by a 90 lb. weakling who understands just the bare basics of street-fighting.

And while it may sound almost impossible…you can do the same thing.

All you need is the knowledge. And the monkey simple basics of where the “weak spots” on the human body are…and how to get to them in a fight quickly and easily…without needing to be lightning fast or having years of practice in the dojo.

Sifu Matt Numrich is one of only a few instructors in the world with Full Certification in Bruce Lee’s Jeet Kune Do, and also the Filipino Martial Arts. His students include everyone from Federal Air Marshals and military elites to small children and 65-year old ladies. Matt also offers free weekly street-fighting lessons by email at http://jkdondvd.com

Build Your Business through Strategic Networking

Networking - it’s the latest business trend. Or is it?

Actually, business owners have always engaged in the art and science of networking.
Only years ago it didn’t have a name. Business owners would get together, shake hands, and smile and chat about themselves and their businesses. Same thing with “coaching.” I’ve been a sales trainer for 40 years, but it wasn’t until five or six years ago that someone said, “Milt, you’re not a sales trainer, you’re a coach.” I always thought coaching was leading your kid’s soccer or baseball team. Turns out I’ve been a “coach” for 40 years.

The buzzwords, however, aren’t important. What counts is what you do. And if you’re a business owner looking to grow your business, then networking should be a way of life for you. It’s how you climb the ladder of success. But if you don’t actually climb that ladder, you won’t go anywhere. That’s why it’s called networking!

While you can network anywhere - I’ve met some really great clients while eating at the local diner - a good place to begin is by joining a networking group. It’s an excellent way to meet a lot of potential “suspects” who have the potential to become “prospects.”

Here you will have a brief opportunity to stand up and talk about yourself and your business to a group of people who share the same goals you do. In essence, you become a 60-second commercial. When given the opportunity to “sell” yourself, be sharp and to the point. Look directly at your audience, not at the ground or up at the ceiling. Make eye contact. It lets your peers know that you’re confident.

Once your commercial is over, get out in the crowd and talk to people. Work them like a politician works a crowd. But don’t be pushy; don’t use fancy words - not everyone is a Princeton graduate, and make sure you have a firm handshake. Trust me, you can tell if a person is positive or negative by their handshake. And be a good listener. Listen 80% of the time, talk 20%.

But most importantly, don’t make this an “it’s all about me” affair. Remember, you’re not the only person there networking. You’re all in the same boat. When you introduce yourself, don’t hand someone your business card and immediately tell them what you do. Show an interest in others - talk about what they do. Ask them questions about themselves and their families; develop a rapport. In other words, don’t kiss on the first date!

You’ll know if there’s any “chemistry” between you. If there is, make arrangements to meet at another time and place to discuss your mutual interests. Why eat lunch by yourself? And always ask for a referral.

While there’s no harm in speaking to everyone, do target your audience - seek out people who you know would benefit your business. But even if you determine there’s nothing worth pursuing, a particular business owner may have other clients that can help you. You may speak to a business owner with whom you have no mutual interest, but you’re also talking to his/her 30 “suspects” who may become “prospects.”

As for that business card - make sure it describes what service you are offering. Your card is your billboard. I suggest putting your photo on it. If I don’t remember what you do, chances are I will toss the card. When you receive someone’s card, don’t wait a week or three weeks to make contact. Follow-up in a day or two.

The key to successful networking is practicing your presentation. Write down your message and key points and practice it over and over. Repetition leads to confidence. Practice in front of your spouse or friends and neighbors. Practice is especially important for people who are terrified to speak in public, which is about 99% of the total population. You may even want to consider hiring a coach.

There’s also the “likeability factor” to consider. In order to sell your product or service, you have to sell yourself. And if people like and trust you, they’ll sign that contract. Conversely, if they don’t like you, you can be selling gold in your pockets, but they won’t buy.

Networking is the best way to build your business. You can read a million books about it, but unless you get out there and do it, you’ll never even reach the first rung of that ladder.

Story Structure - Classic Hero’s Journey

The Classical Hero’s Journey is one of the most detailed story structures containing 106 sequences overall and 32 in Act III alone.

A descendant of Campbell’s Hero with a Thousand Faces and containing references to all the normal and less usual Archetypes: Peer Brothers, the Failed Hero and more, it allows the screen or story writer to quickly map out a step outline, template or first draft screenplay.

The Classical Hero’s Journey follows the universal story pattern (”there is in reality only one story”); the first ten sequences are very briefly summarised here:

1. An overview of the environment and context the story will take place in. Usually shots of the city, events, people interactions, events, narrative or some combination of above or similar. Sometimes an explanation is in order depending on the complexity involved.

2. Antagonist captures Princess. Princess sends Heralds to find rescuer - someone with a reputation and history of success against the antagonist; someone who may be able to assist in some way or similar. Often an Old Knight. If Heralds are more than one, they may conflict in some way. Establish evil nature of antagonist. Establish good nature of Princess. Herald(s) may be forced into the journey. Antagonist’s lieutenants may, through a mistake, lack of intelligence, some sort of deception or similar allow the Herald(s) to escape. Antagonist chases Herald’s in the belief (may be mistaken) that they Herald’s are dangerous, are important people, have something important in their possession, cannot let word of the Princess’ capture get out or similar.

3. The Herald(s) journey is full of difficulties. If the Herald’s are more than one, they may be separated for some reason. Some may die before finding help.

4. Antagonist’s lieutenants are hot on the heels of the Herald(s).

5. If Herald’s are separated, they are united. Else they approach the place where help may be at hand and the story reverts to being that of the Hero and not theirs.

6. The Hero is introduced. Along with the Interdictor, Hawks, Doves and perhaps others. The interaction between the characters illustrates their roles.

7. Heralds are not recognised by the Hero. It may be by pure chance that the Hero and Heralds meet. Others may have an interest in blocking the meeting.

8. Hero and Heralds interact in a safe, quiet place. Usually a place where the Hero feels comfortable. Herald’s inform the Hero of their backstory, the World of the Ordeal. There are references to a Mentor. The Heralds present the Hero with a Call to Adventure.

9. The Interdictor presents an interdiction that prevents the Hero from embarking on the adventure. The interdictive nature of the Interdictor is expanded upon. There are references to the Peer Brother - that the Interdictor is preventing the Hero from growing to the level of the Peer Brother. References to the Hero’s mysterious birth, his lack of knowledge of his parenthood and descendents. References to the Mentor. Hawks, Doves and Interdictor may debate the pros and cons of issuing the Interdiction. The secret desire of the Hero to embark on the adventure is illustrated.

10. Through some outside event, the Hero is forced into the adventure. He leaves in the dead of night, aware that he is violating the interdiction and aware of the danger. The danger of breaking the interdiction is expanded.

Ski Holidays for the Environmentally Friendly Snowboarder

Dozens snowboarders will before long be looking for their ski trousers and darting away trying to find the biggest snowfall.

And doubtless the result from your carbon footprint will be nearly as far down the list of vacation to dos as a Christmas tree after the Christmas vacation.

Just last Christmas, a sluggish snow was in the broadsheets and holidaymakers were panic stricken about the flecks of snow dissolving almost as soon as they landed.

Ski business Chalet1802, based at the foot of Monte Bianco in Chamonix Haute Savoie in the Alps, is one of the only autonomous businesses to go carbon neutral and provide skiers an environmentally friendly option whilst organising their ski trip.

Chalet1802 proprietor Traviata stated: Last year was quite a shock with the hottest wintertime in sixty yrs in France. French resorts like Risoul, Hautacam and Grand Massif suffered. It was balmy and the snowfall did not settle so a lot of the early season skiing season in the mountains was patchy. We decided to become carbon negative to assist in the preservation the skiing resort.

Traviata said: We’re not attempting to prescribe to punters but we believe it’s crucial to grant them the selection without augmenting the cost of the holiday. When the customer book with us and vacations in our Chamonix luxury chalet they can more than off-set their carbon footprint and we soak up the added prices. Naturally we still have a sauna and a hot tub - holiday makers wish for luxuriousness but not at the expense of the environs, so we viewed means of diminishing the impact of a guest flying over here for a ski holiday.”

The business have moreover partnered with organisation Climate Care, which deals with global warming by providing carbon dioxide deductions for people and businesses.

For more info about luxury chalets and carbon negative skiing vacations provided by Chalet1802 visit www.chalet1802.co.uk.

Author: Joan Rattner Heilman
ISBN: 0071438297
Publishers: McGraw-Hill:

The following review was contributed by: NORM GOLDMAN: Editor of Bookpleasures.

REVIEW

No age group represents such an enormous market of potential consumers than those over the age of fifty.

According to author Joan Rather Heilman, author of Unbelievably Good Deals and Great Adventures That You Absolutely Can’t Get Unless You’re Over 50 (2005-2006), more than a quarter of the population of the United States is over 50, and by the 2020 it is expected to reach one third.

It is little wonder why the business community actively courts this sector of the population that controls most of the wealth of the USA.

If you are one of the lucky ones who have reached the “big five O,” hold onto your wallets before you fork out money for hotels, car rentals, tour packages, college courses, airfare, entrance admission to parks, restaurants, buses, trains, sports activities, and even shopping.

Heilman passes out all kinds of “goodies,” as if we are children in a candy shop, with hundreds of tips as to how to stretch your vacation dollars.

Dividing the book into twenty chapters, the author presents excellent insights pertaining to various value-added possibilities. However, as stated by the author, it is essential that if you are over fifty, you must very often ask for these discounts. Most vendors and their representatives will not voluntarily offer them to you.

Most of the book is devoted to savings the over fifty crowd can enjoy from the travel industry. Realizing that this sector of the population is the most ardent travelers, it is only logical that the travel industry would offer all kinds of price reductions.

Heilman details the offerings of the various airlines with their names, phone numbers and web sites. Similarly, discounts pertaining to hotels, motels, car rental companies are listed.

Are you looking for some alternative lodging? Did you know that Del Webb Sun Cities, the largest builder of active communities offers a Vacation Getaway program, where you can enjoy low-cost, short vacation stays so that you can sample the lifestyle to see whether you would like to move in? Bear in mind, however, that in order to qualify one partner in a visiting couple must be over the age of 55.

In addition, the reader will discover all kinds of deals concerning trains, buses and boats pertaining to North America and elsewhere. Companies such as Amtrak, Via Rail in Canada, Greyhound Lines, train passes in Britain, France and other European countries offer some kind of a discounts, although requirements as to age may differ.

If you are a sport’s enthusiast, Heilman presents a comprehensive rundown of assorted clubs, tours, associations, and other institutions that offer different vacation possibilities as skiing, cycling, walking, golfing, even softball, where special privileges and discounts are offered. Names, phone numbers, and website addresses are included.

In addition to being a nifty addition to one’s library, this reader friendly book would make a great birthday gift for anyone celebrating his or her “big five O.”

The Secrets of Sales

How many times have you read an entire ebook you get for free?

Does the information in the ebook contain good or enough valuable information that you consider worthwhile reading for?

In these two questions, my answer will be “very few”

Most of the ebook you’ve seen out there for free doesn’t contain much of good information. Why? Because they are doing affiliate program or they are promoting their own product.

There are so many links inside the ebook, when you click one or two of them and buy the product, they earn a fat commission.

One thing I don’t like it because is like buying a DVD back home and when you are watching it, 5-6 previews and trailer shows up, but you are waiting for the real meat to come.

They are doing the right thing and I have no objection for that, but truly, in my personal opinion, to maintain a good relationship with the customer, you will need to give them more valuable information, something that is worthwhile for them to read and can truly benefit them, not just selling.

You are educating your customer; at the same time, you are gaining their trust and your reputation.

I once heard the great business philosopher Jim Rohn said that “Give them what they want, and you will get what you want”

But you have to give them something valuable, don’t just give them something that you are not doing or using or just trying to sell them every time.

Sometimes when I sign up for the newsletter, I found out that it is all pointing towards selling something. They are doing right, but I will seldom open the letter and read it, because I know it will going to be saying the same thing, just selling to you.

I think that’s the reason why we are so bombarded with information overload, because everyday when you open your email and found a lot of newsletter that you have signed up. You found most of them are promoting, but just a few that really teaches something that’s of value.

If we just stay our focus and stop being bombarded with those newsletter or the latest product or whatsoever, I bet your road to success with be smoother.

Like me, for example, I sign up for a few newsletters and will just take a look at one or two of them that I think worthwhile reading to me. Other’s I either delete them or never open it, because they are all selling or promoting.

However, if you can have a good relationship with your customer at first, gain their trust. Then you could start suggesting products that will benefit them.

Have you heard of the phrase “20% of your customers are responsible for 80% of your sales”?

Your existing customer will bring you more than just one time of sale, it maybe a life time.

Converting a visitor to a life time customer, how’s that sound?

If you want to know more information about converting visitor’s to Life Time Customer, please visit www.instantebookprofit.com, you will not only find the information for free, you will also get tools for free.

You’ll be surprised of how much information this website has and how much he is giving out.

Titus Cheng is the author of “Instant Ebook Profit”, he is a young a enthusiastic entrepreneur, http://www.instantebookprofit.com.
